Enjoy the long and winding road through farmland, and the tiny coastal village, to stunning Otamure, a classic Northland East Coast sandy beach framed by rocky outcrops, mature pohutukawas, and stream. Dig your toes into the sand, take a dip in the cool water or throw a fishing line off the rocks at either end.
At the northern end of the campground, just past the one-way bridge on Rockell Road, is the Watkin Powell Track which takes you up and over the hill (about ten minutes) to even more secluded Tauwhara Bay - you may have the entire beach to yourself!
Pick up supplies at the local store (there's only one) at the Whananaki village and stay at the Department of Conservation campsite. Allow 50 mins drivetime.
