New York Times: "Probably the most important piece of political theatre in the last decade."

The highly acclaimed Vagina Monologues will be performed in Whangarei at One One Six as part of the international V-Day and 1 billion rising protest of violence against women and girls worldwide.

The award-winning play is based on V-Day Founder/playwright Eve Ensler's interviews with more than 200 women. With humor and grace the piece celebrates women's sexuality and strength. Through this play and the liberation of this one word, countless women throughout the world have taken control of their bodies and their lives. For 20 years, The Vagina Monologues has given voice to experiences and feelings not previously exposed in public.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of V-Day – more than just a theatrical experience; it is an artistic uprising, a radical act, an act of resistance.

90% of the proceeds goes to Whangarei Rape Crisis and 10% to the V-Day movement.
