Claphams Clocks- The National Clock Museum
Largest collection of timepieces in the southern hemisphere, includes music box museum.
About this activity
Claphams Clocks is a unique attraction presenting the largest collection of clocks and timepieces in the southern hemisphere (around 1400). Come face to face with amazing timepieces, hear the unique chimes and cuckoos, and enjoy an entertaining experience for the whole family. The collection was established by Whangarei resident Archibald Clapham and has been an attraction for locals and visitors since he first opened his home-based display in the 1940s. The collection was gifted to the Whangarei District Council in 1961. Today the museum is located at Whangareis Town Basin - haven for international yachts, and featuring a variety of specialty shops, galleries, cafes & restaurants. The museum is open daily for guided tours. Open daily 9am-5pm.
