About this image

Whangarei Fritter Festival

Sorry, this event has been and gone.

The Nukes from West Auckland are far more than a ukulele band. Part vaudeville, part rat-pack, part musical car crash, this talented trio deliver an engaging mix of humour and originality that audiences of all ages will love. The innocent little uke is the instrument of choice and folk will be staggered by what they are able to achieve with it. Great songwriting, musicianship and 3-part harmony combine to create a truly memorable entertaining experience.

Visiting Dargaville's ANZAC Theatre to promote their Nukes III album which spent six weeks on the NZ album chart top ten as well as being in the overall top 40 albums for two weeks peaking at number 31. It topped the Independent NZ music charts for two weeks and has seen the band promoting the album since release on Feb 22nd all over NZ from Kaitaia to Rakiura and so much in between – over seventy shows many sellouts and attendance records broken including major Festival show appearances at (Wanaka Festival Of Colour/Coastella Kapiti Coast , Kokomai Masterton & Southland Festival Of Arts) . November 2017 also saw a successful three-week tour of Australia the groups fourth visit across the ditch ...we haven’t been back to Dargaville since late 2016. Looking forward to this overdue return. The Nukes where ukulele will never be the same again...
