A worldwide audience of millions saw the teal, green and white of NorthTec’s logo on rally cars, signage and apparel as NorthTec kicked into gear as an official associate sponsorship of the NAC Insurance International Rally of Whangarei 2009, earlier this month.
The rally, which was the third round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship, drew a large spectator base to the region. It also attracted millions of television viewers from across the world and teams from all over New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan and India.
Whangarei’s population increased by several thousand when competitors and their support crews, plus media and spectators, converged on the city.
NorthTec was delighted to be involved with the rally as it provided students and staff the chance to be associated with a prestigious international event.
As an associate sponsor of the Rally of Whangarei, NorthTec received advertising, display, marketing, branding and signage opportunities, naming rights, exposure on the official Rally NZ website, recognition in official media releases, a number of free and VIP passes, and speaking rights at the ceremonial start and finish.
General Manager of Rally NZ, Paul Mallard said local support and sponsorship of the rally is critical to its success.
“Events don’t happen without sponsorship, especially ones of this size,” he said.
“Continued support from NorthTec is more than just a commercial arrangement. We receive valuable assistance from students leading up to and during the event and, in turn, we hope the opportunity to work at an international event such as this offers the students a range of benefits and experience.”
“Each and every sponsor is valued by the organising committee and we extend warm thanks to NorthTec for their continued support of the event. Each sponsor brings different benefits to the rally and we trust that we also offer sponsors the unique benefits and returns of being associated with an international motorsport event,” Mallard said.
Whangarei Mayor Stan Semenoff has heaped praise on the NAC Insurance International Rally of Whangarei as a fantastic family event.
Mr Semenoff said he was proud that Whangarei had been able to join the rest of the world in enjoying the spectacular sport of rallying, and that locals took the opportunity in large numbers to be part of the excitement.
