Ten Northland artists, including several NorthTec art students and NorthTec tutor Maree Wilson, will display their work in Taupo at the “Travellers, Trinkets and Tourist Icons” exhibition.

The artists include: Hinemoa Hauraki, Christine Butler, Janice Barratt, Maree Wilson, Wally Hicks, Lindsay Antrobus Evans, Claire Kaahu White, Kereama Dalton, Karen Reeves and Rachel Miller. Hinemoa Hauraki is the curator and facilitator.

About the Exhibition
Keepsakes acquired along our travels are imbued with the memories of our experience at that particular place and time; collected to fulfil the desire to take with you a small piece of that experience, that place. These evocative reminders are interpreted and transformed by a group of contemporary Hokianga artists through mediums including paint, sculpture and jewellery. This show reflects a local perspective of national identity and considers the experience of being a visitor to Aotearoa.
